When Achashveirosh and Haman came to Esther for the first meal, the king asked her what she desired, and she answered that she wished to host another meal for them; there are many reasons given for why she didn’t present her request right then.
But, according to pnimiyus haTorah, Esther and the king allude to כנסת ישראל and the Ribbono shel Olam. When such an exalted day arrives, and we’re asked what we want, there can only be one answer: To be with You again! All other requests—as important as they may be—can wait. They’ll be addressed in due course. But our main request is to be with the King. We want an intimate connection... just to be with Him. Esther said, “נפשי בשאלתי, I’m pleading for life itself.” When we have closeness, all other problems will automatically fall away.
