A Great Chiddush

The Ruzhiner Rebbe zy”a said about Rav Hirsch, “I am not a chiddush. (Since my father and ancestors were holy people, I am not a chiddush.) But for such a coarse skin (someone from a simple background) to become such smooth silk (such a holy person) – that is a great chiddush.”
