A Vision From Rav Elimelech zya

Rav Shalom of Barnhad zy”a related that Rav Hirsch of Rimanov greatly desired to hear about Rav Elimelech of Lizhensk zy”a. When he met anyone who had seen him, he would ask how he looked and for any stories about him they could remember.

He once was preparing to make a trip to see Rav Elimelech when he was informed that he had passed away. This caused him so much anguish that he literally became so sick that his life was in danger.

One erev Shabbos, he suddenly got better. He related that a man who looked just like Rav Elimelech had been described to him appeared to him in a vision and said, “You wanted to see me? Look at me. This is how I look.”

He then was able to calm himself and he went to see Rav Mendele of Rimanov zy”a.
