It is an understatement of the paramount importance of Limud HaMussar. It gives you a Neshama and a Ruach in everything that you do. Learn Nefesh HaChaim and you’ll appreciate what Talmud Torah is. You can learn all your life, but won’t truly appreciate the greatness of what you’re doing. And the same with Chesed and Kedusha and Ka'as (anger) and Savlanus (patience) and Z'rizus and having a Cheshbon HaNefesh, etc. Get the Mussar Sefer that explains the value of each Midda.
You get much more Schar when you have appreciation; i.e., Simcha Shel Mitzva (Orchos Tzaddikim) and you have a better time in Olam HaZeh and in Olam HaBah.
You want to become a Masmid, a Zariz, a Savlan (no Ka'as), keep learning again and again those Seforim which address your Inyan. Keep learning Mussar even if it doesn’t seem to change you. הָ עַקְ שָ ן יַצְ לִ יחַ The stubborn will be Matzliach! Every drop of Mussar has an effect, whether you realize it or not.
