Turning the Means into an End

Havineini | June 27, 2025

The truth is that the words of the Rambam apply in a different way as well. When a person is engaged in business... he builds buildings, he manufactures clothing or food... at the end of the day, the entire purpose of this work is so that another Yid will be able to serve the Ribbono shel Olam. Thus, there is tremendous purpose in his very work that he does every day.

And so, a person who constantly searches for ways to fulfill his purpose will find ways to turn the means into an end in and of itself. Instead of thinking of himself as a servant to those who serve Hashem, he understands that if he does things right, he will himself become a servant of Hashem, and his entire business will become one endeavor of avodas Hashem.
