One must understand that his Torah and tefillah are the pinnacle of creation! Everything must revolve around them, to enable them to continue! One shouldn’t feel weird or a special ba’al madreigah when shelling out lots of money in order to be able to daven with a minyan.
He paid thirty-five dollars for a taxi because he missed the minyan here, and he must travel elsewhere. And now he tells himself that he could have davened b’yechidus. What?! The entire creation revolves around your davening with minyan! Why do you think that Hashem created taxi drivers? Only so that you should be able to get to your minyan!
When a person understands that he is truly the crown and the pinnacle of creation, and that he has a special purpose, he understands that it was for this purpose that Hashem created the entire creation! We see people who make big mistakes because they want to save a few dollars—and we’re talking about people who are tight with money as well. Everyone knows how to spend for what they understand to be the tachlis.
