The Power of Torah Study and Achdus Yisroel

The study of Torah by each and every single one of Yisroel draws down those very Inyonim that were drawn down at Matan Torah. As is explained in ‘Torah Or’ (Parshas Yisro) in explaining the Talmudic dictum: “Just as by Matan Torah it was with awe and trepidation ... so too, here...” that whilst each and every one of the B’nei Yisroel studies Torah, he draws down those very Inyonim that were drawn down at Matan Torah.

Each and every one of Yisroel: Every time a Jew studies Torah he is again bringing down the same revelations into this world. Even if one cannot see it or feel it. Rely on the fact that it is happening. Your Torah study is bringing down the same revelations that descended upon the world at Matan Torah.

Torah Or: See footnote 8.

So too here: The Talmud in tractate Brochos 22a states the following: As it was taught in a Braisa: It is written: “And you shall impart them to your children and your children’s children” Devorim (4:9), and it is written thereafter: “The day that you stood before Hashem your G-d at Chorev” Devorim (4:10). Just as by Matan Torah where the Possuk says: “The people saw and they trembled”, with fear, quaking, and trembling, so too when one learns Torah as the Possuk states: “And you shall teach them to your children”. In every generation, Torah must be studied with a sense of reverence, fear, quaking, and trembling.
