Wordlessly Fulfilling Their Will:

The Medrash states (Shemos Rabbah 21:10): “You did not lack anything (‘davar’). You were not even lacking words (‘dibur’).”

Chasam Sofer zy“a (Sefer Toras Moshe) explains that when the Jews were in the midbar, they didn’t even need to say any words. As soon as they thought that they needed something, it was given to them.

Why did Hashem do this miracle for them?

We may answer that when a person needs something, it is often hard to ask for it. Sometimes, it is easier to forgo the item than to ask someone to give it to him. For such people, Hashem gave them what they wanted without the need to even ask.
