Kibud Av VEm

Bitachon Weekly | December 10, 2025

The Baalei Mussar were known for their Kibud Av V’Em. They say that R’ Yisroel Yaakov Lubchansky’s mother was afraid to wave to her son from her window when he passed by her house every morning on his way to the Baranovich Yeshiva where he was Mashgiach. If she would wave to him, he would come inside the house and spend the rest of the day attending to her. He would drop everything for Kibud Av V’Em.

One of the great Baalei Mussar of Kelm had his father’s picture in front of him all his life, and he was full of admiration without end. His life’s dream was to leave Kelm, and to travel to Eretz Yisroel to be together with his father. The Baalei Mussar lived with the truth, that you owe everything to the people who brought you into this world.
