You may see before you a tough, angry, older man. But a true-leader views everyone like a soft sheep, and doesn’t get intimidated by all kinds of scary people. They are truly just like weak sheep, since a human is just a creation of Hashem. So instead of being scared, he sees right through people, and he has constant compassion for them.
I asked some very Chashuva people who had loads of Ahavas Yisroel, and they explained that they saw the little child in every adult, and they looked away from any negatives. Sometimes we get turned-off by people who have “rough edges”. But if we look into them and imagine a difficult past, then we see a broken little child in front of us, and compassion takes over.
Every Yid should view others as helpless: צאן sheep, and have compassion, since these docile creatures awaken lots of Rachamim. Then we will always be “givers”, instead of viewing them as “bears” and being scared off by them and feeling inferior.
