A Baal Bitachon Is a Walking Bracha Who Affects His Environment Wherever He Goes

And such an attitude creates such an unusual Baal Bitachon. All these super satisfied people are always giving Brachos, and it says: טוב עַיִן הוּא יְבֹרָךְ משלי כב ט the Ayin Tova shall bless. When Yitzchok Avinu wanted to give Eisav the Brachos, he said: וַעֲשֵּה לִי מַטְעַמִים כַאֲשֶּר אָהַבְתִי בַעֲבוּר תְבָרֶּכְךָ נַפְשִ י תולדות כז ד “Make for me tasty food, the way I like it, so that my soul will bless you”. When a person is in a good frame of mind, it’s time to give Brachos, so your Simcha spreads on to others. Notice how in last week’s Parsha, Yaakov bentches Paroh twice. Rashi says that the first Bracha was just a: שְ אֵּ לַ ת שָ לום greeting. Yet, why does the Torah call it a Bracha?

And when Paroh asked Moshe: וּבֵּרַכְתֶּם גַם אֹתִי בא יב לב “Bentch me as well”, he meant “daven for me”. (Rashi). Yet, he used the Lashon of Bracha. We can suggest that a Tzaddik is a walking Bracha because he is a Baal Bitachon who affects his environment wherever he goes, like the Chovos Halvavos says in Shaar HaBitachon that his whole city is lucky! And Rashi in the beginning of Parshas Vayeitzei says that when a Tzadik departs from a city: פָ נָ ה הודָ הּ פָ נָ ה זִ יוָ הּ פָ נָ ה הַ דָ רָ הּ the entire beauty and shine of the city departs (and maybe הודָ הּ “Ho’dah” is also a Remez to Hoda'ah, i.e., the person who always says thank you). Like it says by Eliyahu HaNavi: אַשְ רֵּי מִי שֶּנָתַן לו שָלום זמירות למוצאי שבת Fortunate is he who even just greeted Eliyahu HaNavi.

He is one piece of Bracha, like it says: בָרוּךְ הַגֶּבֶּר אֲשֶּר יִבְטַח בַ ה' ירמיה יז ז Blessed is the man who trusts in Hashem. He is a generous: טוב עַיִן Ayin Tova type of person, since he is loaded with Simchas HaBitachon and he never worries. This is why Tzaddikim are so involved in giving Brachos, since they want others to share in the utter Simcha which their personal lives personify. They are total Bracha; their hello and their Tefila and every inch of their being is Bracha. And even after their: פְ טִ ירָ ה passing, we say: זֵּכֶּר צַדִ יק לִבְרָכָה משלי י ז the memory of a Tzadik is a Bracha.

A person who just works on being satisfied, and stops having envy (albeit in Ruchaniyus); Hashem gives him a special Bracha and he has a sweet life.
