Answer: I once heard from R’ Mordechai Schwab Zatzal, who said: It doesn’t really matter which Yeshiva you go to. Of course, you have to do your Hishtadlus. But if your Hishtadlus is not working, then there is a reason behind it. We shouldn’t make an Avoda Zara out of a Yeshiva, and we shouldn’t make too big of an emphasis on Hishtadlus. People want everything the way they want it to be, even in Ruchaniyus. If you want your son to Shteig and do well, you also have to Shteig, and not get carried away with the Yeshiva. This whole “Yeshiva system” was planted by Hashem to make us Shteig. Put your main focus on your child, and not on the Yeshiva.
I recently had a similar situation. My grandson wanted to go to a certain Yeshiva, and the chances of him getting in did not look good. You know what I did? I took out a piece of paper, and wrote down a whole story, of how he got in to the Yeshiva, and how everyone was calling up to say Mazal Tov... and sure enough, he got in! That is the power of being positive and having Bitachon! THE MAIN THING IS TO HAVE MENUCHAS HANEFESH, AND THEN YOU WILL BE MATZLIACH.
