What is a Kohen doing in a cemetery? Since wicked people are called dead during their lifetime, and he is an older man that has acquired knowledge, so how could an old (wise) man go to return a lost object? At a time when it’s needed to bring close the hearts of the Jewish people, also/including a very low person, to G-dliness, then the Jewish leader forgoes his own matters and he learns Alef-Beis with Jews whether it is the Alef-Beis of Torah and Mitzvos or the actual letters of the Alef Beis.
