He didn’t realize that a truly intelligent person doesn’t complicate his life with his brainy suspicions. Instead, he makes himself a trusting Tam, and he lives longer and healthier. A Baal Bitachon tends to be more calm and relaxed, and not so worried about his Kavod. In Novardok they interpreted: חְ שַ ד and suspicion as the Midda of a Rodef Kavod! He’s so involved in his Kavod that he’s always suspecting and worrying what people think about him.
The Baal Bitachon says: נַפְשִּי כְגָׁמֻל עֲלֵי אִּמּוֹ תהלים קלא ב I’m like a baby in Hashem’s hands, and: ה' רֹּעִּי לֹּא אֶחְסָׁר תהלים כג א Hashem is my Shepard (so) I will not lack. I have Hashem, and I don’t really need people anyway. People are there to love and to trust and to do Chesed with them and to enjoy; they aren’t threats and intimidators and important scary fears that sour your life. ה' אֱלֹקֶּ יךָ עִמָּךְ לֹא חָסַרְ תָ דָבָר ב ז
