If You Are Not Heavily Involved in Mussar or You Don’t Have a Rebbe Your Shitos May Be Shtuyos

Bitachon Weekly | June 27, 2025

There are many leaders who appear to be almost worshipped by their followers. This can be quite annoying to all of us outsiders, and understandably so. However, in Novardok without a question they would say that you have Kin'ah! Don’t trust yourself and your holy criticism. Look how terribly wrong the: הַ מוֹן עַ ם (public) is about the above Adam Gadol!

People could be Talmidei Chachomim and Yi’rei Shamayim and great Ovdim. But when it comes to criticizing, if they aren’t learning Mussar overtime (and with a Rebbe who puts them in their place), all their Shitos could be: הֶּבֶּל הַבָּלִּים (baseless) Mamash and total lies like this case. When we want the Geula so badly, we should reconsider so many so our criticisms.

(Including being too self-critical!) The Komarno Rebbe said: If you hear something good about a Yid, believe it as true. But if you hear evil, it’s a lie! Don’t think it’s easy to be non-critical! You need to lie and lie that everyone is good, even though you “know” differently. (This is what R' Ahron Belzer Zatzal used to do). Then, there is hope!
