What does the wise son say

The Chochom asks about the three different types of Mitzvos.

Mishpotim – the logical Mitzvos that we could think of on our own, for example not to kill or steal.

Eidus – Mitzvos that testify about something, for example eating Matzah on Pesach to show how we left Mitzraim. These are also logical.

Chukim – Mitzvos that are not logical at all, and we keep them simply because Hashem told us to. Examples would be the Parah Adumah and the laws of Kashrus.

The Chochom’s question is why do we have to we need the command of Hashem to do the Mitzvos of Eidus and Mishpotim if they are logical, and we could think of them ourselves?

We answer the Chochom with a law that is a Chok, that we can’t eat anything after the Afikoman. We are telling the Chochom that even the Mishpotim and Eidus Mitzvos are higher than logic and we keep them because Hashem told us to, just like the Chukim, because all Mitzvos come from the command of Hashem.
