Mah is different this night from all other nights

MAOR CENTRE publications | June 27, 2025

The Rebbe Rashab explained that there are two ways that Mah Nishtana can be read. One is as a question “why is this night different from all other nights?”. The other is as a statement, that “Mah is different this night from all other nights”.

Mah (מה) has the Gematria of the Name of Hashem when the letters of the Name are spelled out in full;

יוד =20 הא = 6 ואו =13 הא = 6
All together this equals 45 and is referred to as “the Name Mah”.

Therefore, Mah represents G-dliness.

Whilst the G-dliness of the Name Mah is present on all nights, the Mah on this night is different to that of all other nights, because on the Seder night G-dliness shines in a greater way.
