All Your Dark Nisyonos Are Just Hashem Revealing Himself to You

Bitachon Weekly | December 10, 2025

Rabeinu B’chayei says that the: עָ נָן cloud corresponds to the Kodesh (the Heichal), whereas the: עַ ב הֶ עָ נָן “thickness” of the cloud, and: עֲ רָ פֶ ל which is super dark, corresponds to the Kodesh HaKodoshim. Last week we mentioned that Hashem reveals Himself to us in a dark: עָ נָן cloud, because our main connection with Hashem is through the Nisyonos that He gives us. Hashem wants us to become great, so that He can give us loads of Schar, and a “dark” cloud symbolizes a “dark” and difficult Nisayon.

When the Yidden stood before Har Sinai, they were petrified by the: קוֹלוֹת וְלַ פִ ידִ , םיק וֹל שׁפָ רוֹ ,הָ הָ ר עָ שֵׁ ן loud noises, fire, the Shofar blasts, and smoking of the mountain; they thought that they would die. Moshe calmed them and said: אַ ל תִ ירָ אוּ כִ י לְ בַ עֲ בוּר נַסוֹת אֶ תְ כֶם בָ א הָ אֱ לֹקִ ים יט יז Don’t worry. All the scary tumult of Har Sinai is just a test. The same with all those horrific, overwhelming, and bewildering parts of our lives; they are really Nisyonos to help us grow.

In Novardok they said that most Nisyonos are really Dimyonos. All the “fears” and “scary situations” are really dispersible clouds (and are usually traced to Redifas HaKavod).

Moshe is giving us a lifetime lesson: Don’t be scared. All those pecklach are just Nisyonos, and you need to see Hashem inside them; it is He who is just testing you. If: עָ נָן (a dark cloud) is Kodesh, and: עֲ רָ פֶ ל (an extra dark cloud) is Kodesh Kodoshim, we can suggest that a small (dark) test is holy, but a big (extra dark) test is super holy, and it will make you much greater.

So don’t be impressed by your pecklach that can sometimes overwhelm you. If you realize that it’s all Hashem inside them, and He wants to make you great, then it will become much easier to tolerate.
