We Are Loaded with Phenomenal Zechusim That We Never Think About

Bitachon Weekly | December 31, 2025

Sefer Breishis is full of stories of the Avos etc. and great people who we need to try to emulate. You can’t always succeed, but you can WANT to succeed, and that’s plenty! R' Nissan Potashinsky

Before a person takes a Lulav, he says a Tefila that it should be considered: כְא לּוּ “as if” he had in mind all the Kavanos that the Anshei Knesses HaGedola intended. If saying: כְא לּוּ “as if” doesn’t really mean anything, then why would we say it?

Since this is built in as the Nusach HaTefila, we see that Hashem wants us to have many Zechusim, which although may not seem “real” from the way we see it; yet in reality we are getting loads of Schar! So keep wishing for more Shas, Tzidkus, Mussar, Gemilus Chasadim, and Hasmada; and appreciate all your noble Retzonos. The more value you give your: כְא לּוּ’s (“as if’s”), the more Schar you get.

Chazal are full of “as if’s”, like: כָּל הָּעוֹסֵק בְתורַת חַט את, כְא לּוּ ה קְר יב חַט את מנחות קי א One who learns about Korban Chatas, is considered “as if” he actually brought a Chatas, etc. ח ישַב לַע שות מ צְו ה וְנֶאֱנַס וְל ֹּא ע ש א הּ, מַע לֶה ע ל יו הַכ תוּב כְא לּוּ ע ש א הּ ברכות ו א If you wanted to do a Mitzva, but were unable to, it is considered “as if” you actually did it. We are actually all loaded with loads of phenomenal Zechusim that we never think about.
