Sefer Magen Avrohom:
During his lifetime, the Magid printed his Sefer Magen Avrohom. The Sefas Emes zy”a said that every avreich much pawn his talis and tefillin to buy this sefer.
The Magid wrote the following in the introduction to the sefer: “Until now, Hashem has helped me with His great kindness and I have reached the age of ‘gevuros’ (80). Since my strength has weakened, I cannot raise my voice and come before you with words of Torah and mussar like I used to...”
He concludes: “My bitachon is strong due to the chesed that Hashem has done for me, as I have reached the point of ‘and Avrohom was old, advanced in days.’ May it also be fulfilled for me that ‘Hashem blessed Avrohom with everything’, with the blessing of ‘and you shall be a blessing (to have the ability to give blessings).’ With this power, I bless everyone who purchases this sefer that you should merit great chasadim and the G-d of Avrohom should assist you to fulfill all your desires and those of your children and children’s children who are found around your table. May their heads be raised from Above.”
With these words, we blessed everyone who purchases his sefer and all of Klal Yisroel. May the memory of the tzadik be a blessing.
