From the Possuk in Yeshaye 54:1 which talks of the future redemption רָנִׁי עֲקָרָה לֹא יָלָדָה פִׁצְׁחִׁי רִׁ נָה וְׁצַהֲלִׁי לֹא־חָלָה כִׁי־רַבִׁים בְׁנֵי־שוֹמֵמָה מִׁבְׁנֵי בְׁעוּלָה אָמַר ה׳ “Sing you barren woman who has not borne; burst out into song and jubilation, you who have not experienced birth pangs, for the children of the desolate one are more than the children of the married woman," says Hashem” and Rashi says: Sing, you barren woman Jerusalem, who was as though she had not borne. you who have not experienced birth pangs: Heb. חָלָה, an expression of childbirth, for the woman in confinement gives birth with pains and writhing. For the children of the desolate one: The daughter of Edom.
