READ THIS & YOUR SIMCHA LEVEL WILL SOAR! The Netziv elaborates on: רָ צָ ה הַ קָ דוֹש בָ רוּךְ הוּא לְ זַכוֹת אֶ ת יִּשְ רָ אֵ ל משנה סוף מכות Hashem is looking to give us more Schar (for things we are doing anyway). We get Schar for not eating disgusting blood, and the Torah repeats many: הָ זְ אַ רוֹת warnings for the same Mitzva, in order to give us more Schar (for each commandment separately). For example, for the Mitzva of putting on Tefilin you get 8 Mitzvos. (Gemara). Birchas Cohanim gives us 3 Mitzvos. (Gemara). Any: הנָ כָ הַ preparation for a Mitzva mentioned explicitly in the Torah is also counted as a Mitzva. For example, for building a Sukkah, you get a Mitzva, besides for the Mitzva of sitting in it. That’s why the Torah says: וַיֵלְ כוּ וַיַעֲ שוּ בא יב כח they “went” and they “did” (the Mitzva) to teach us that they got a Mitzva for just their “going” to do it. **
You get Schar for learning different Pratim that aren’t Nogea L'maase. All the different details of a Mitzva give you unending Schar, and: לְ פוּם צַ עֲ רָ א אַ גְ רָ א אבות ה כב the reward increases according to your effort. When you bring: ףטַ small children for Mitzvas Hakhel (who cannot understand anyway) it is just to give you more Schar for the: החָ ירְ טִּ effort. Look how Hashem is out to give us Schar at all angles. It’s almost like you’re getting Schar just for breathing. Just sitting in Bais Medrash doing nothing is a Mitzva. (Rambam). ***
Just wishing to be better is a gold-mine, and many say it can be better than “doing” a Mitzva. Your present Nisayon which is making you crazy (since you are failing, either in Torah, Yiras Shamayim, Kedusha, Ka'as, Atzvus, Atzlus, or Bain Adam La'chaveiro) is actually a Bracha in disguise, since you get much more Schar when you’re in pain, “hoping” to be a better person. ****
We should welcome our Nisyonos and our weaknesses. Hashem purposely gives us these things, and if we accept them B'simcha (or at least try to accept them) then our Schar multiplies. There is no doubt that trying to have Bitachon is a major Zechus, despite your lack of complacency and Menucha. A Jew is a winner at all costs, and the more he works on realizing this truth, the better. *****
Hashem told Moshe that although he wasn’t getting his life’s dream [to come to Eretz Yisroel] nevertheless his Olam HaBah would be even bigger. (Rashi). What a Nechama!
Story
A big: עוֹדבֵ Oved (person who takes his Avodas Hashem seriously) who has conquered many of his weaknesses, called me to tell me that in a certain area he can control himself only for the first hour of the day. Afterwards, he is totally out of control. I told him to spend time thanking Hashem for his past successes in this area, and also to try to control himself for just half an hour, and only for one day at a time. The Madregas HaAdam says that if you do all you can, then Hashem will take over and give you Shleimus. ******
