A Person Who Has Thankfulness Is Basically a Tzadik

Rashi says that the Passuk speaks as if Lavan killed Yaakov (even though in reality he didn't) because by Goyim, a Mach'shava of a Chet is considered as if they did it. By us, it is not (besides for thoughts of Avoda Zara). By us, a bad Mach'shava is not considered as if you did it. It is just a thought; you wanted to do something bad. Why is this lesson being taught specifically here by Bikkurim?

Bikkurim means thankfulness. A Jew's very name (Yehudi) is Hoda'ah "I'm a thank-you person". A thank-you person can think bad thoughts, and Hashem won't hold it against him, because his whole מְצִיאוּת essence is good. “So he thought bad; so what? He wanted to do an Aveira. So what? But he's basically a Tzadik; he has thankfulness”.

A Yid who is in a thank you mode is overwhelmed with Simcha, since he is alive, he can breathe, he has a body, & he has Torah and Mitzvos. He doesn't know how to thank Hashem enough.

The Goy doesn't have thankfulness, so his bad thought is bad! He's going to get punished for that. And the whole Parsha of Bikkurim says “Thank You for taking us out of Mitzrayim”. What do you think Mitzrayim is? A place of non-thankfulness. וַיָּקָם מֶלֶךְ חָדָשׁ עַל מִצְרָיִם אֲשֶׁר לֹא יָדַע אֶת יוֹסֵף You don't remember what Yosef did for you??

Getting out of “Mitzrayim” means getting out of those people who don't know how to say thank you. The type who will persecute the same Jews who helped them so much. They saved the whole country (Yosef), and now you go and persecute them?? We are the opposite. Yetzias Mitzrayim means we are LEAVING Mitzrayim. And now we are bringing Bikkurim to show that we are not “one of those”. We say thank You to Hashem.
