R' Shneur Kotler Had a Shita of Extreme Softness and Goodness

They say that he was afraid since: וְהָאֱלֹקִים יְבַקֵּשׁ אֶת נִרְדָּף (קהלת ג טו) Hashem sticks up for the victim, even if the Nirdaf (victim) is a Rasha and the Rodef is a Tzadik! (Chazal5). I remember that in BMG, the Yungerleit were upset with R' Shneur Kotler Zatzal who refused to take a hard line against a Talmid. It made no sense, and the Olam was baffled. They said that R' Shneur had a Shita about this.

R' Shneur was an extremely good person, and the whole world loved him. He was the one who, with great Mesirus Nefesh, selflessly built-up BMG. They say that he barely slept, and he had plenty Bizyonos (and so did R' Ahron Zatzal). But he also had a Shita about his extreme softness and goodness, which could sometimes make no sense at all.

For sure we can suspect that he took this from the Alter of Slabodka (R' Shneur had been a Talmid of Chevron-Slabodka). They say that Slabodka had some downright Apikorsim, whom the Alter Zatzal tolerated B'shita. At times, some Talmidim rebelled against him right under his nose, yet he refused to kick out anyone. Nobody could understand how he was allowed to risk ruining his Yeshiva!

My humble Pshat would be that he was L'maala Min HaTevah, and indeed, despite these rifts, Slabodka is responsible for a great amount of our Gedolim, and Klal Yisroel owes them everything (e.g., BMG, etc.). If you learn Tanach you will see how extreme was Dovid not to harm his worst enemies. When Shaul HaMelech was chasing him mercilessly and wanted to kill him, Dovid wouldn't fight back. More than once, he could have easily killed Shaul, but he wouldn't.
