To Get Out of Ingratitude You Have to Go Extreme in Thankfulness

Bitachon Weekly | August 25, 2026

We enjoy those delicious pomegranates, those sweet, delicious dates and figs, and we enjoy those olives, etc. We enjoy, and we are so happy with Hashem's beautiful world. We are thank-you mode; not like a Mitzri. That's why we mention Yetzias Mitzrayim in Bikkurim, because they are the opposite of thankfulness. Thanks for getting us OUT of Mitzrayim. Since we were exposed to the ingrateful Mitzrayim, we need to go extreme in breaking that Midda. So on the way out of Mitzrayim, Moshe Rabeinu is not even allowed to smite the water (to turn it into blood/frogs) because he had a benefit from this inanimate object. He had to go extreme in Hakaras HaTov, because in order to get out of “Mitzrayim” you have to go extreme in thankfulness, to appreciate what you had, even from a “nothing” piece of wood and stone. "I'm thankful to that too".
