Aderaba and the Power of Transformation

Bitachon Weekly | June 27, 2025

person in Klal Yisroel, i.e., the Levi! The most selfish egoistic person, Mr. Zero - Mr. Unpopular, becomes the selfless giver, on par with the most beloved Shevet who shave their hair (which is considered a barrier between people), to show their utmost connecting with others. They serve the community. Their name, Levi, is similar to Lev, a heart (Levi-love). Here we have the concept of “Aderaba”, which Novardok was known for.

No wonder they were capable of withstanding the most impossible situations without losing their Bitachon! They were always saying “Aderaba”, and therefore they rejoiced when others would cry. When we say Hallel, we are loaded with Aderaba’s. For example: מ ק ימ י מֵע פ ר ד לְמֵא שׁ פֹת י ר ים אֶב יוֹן ל הוֹשׁ יב י ע ם נ ד יב ים Hashem raises a person from smelly garbage to the elite and most giving people of Klal Yisroel (נ ד יבֵי ע מוֹ).

And then we have: אֶבֶן מ אֲסוּ ה בוֹנ ים the one who is rejected and disgusting (מ אֲסוּ) ה י ת ה ל רֹאשׁ פ נ ה becomes the main and most important part of the building. And then we have: ה הֹפ כ י ה צוּר אֲג ם מ י ם a hard rock or stubborn, difficult person or situation, becomes delicious soft blowing water. ח ל מ ישׁ ל מ ע י נוֹ מ י ם. The fact that there are so many Pesukim with the same Aderaba theme, is a proof of how important the concept of Aderaba should be in our lives.

And among the types of situations where we can use “Aderaba” there is a big variety, since each Passuk is unique and very different from the others. A girl was dieting with more Bitachon than eating right. When she messed up with her dieting, she said Aderaba, and she was very Matzliach.

What greater “Aderaba” do we have than: ב מ קוֹם שֶׁב עֲלֵי ת שׁוּב ה עוֹמ ד ים אֵין צ ד יק ים ג מוּר ים י כוֹל ין ל עֲמוֹד ברכות לד ב Baalei Teshuva are even GREATER than pure Tzaddikim! There we have the greatest and most extreme Aderaba! But to really believe this, you need plenty of Chazzara (repetition) and/or Mussar B'hispa'alus. In the meantime, follow R’ Avigdor Miller Zatzal, and make believe you really believe in Aderaba; and your Bitachon and self-esteem will skyrocket, with Hashem’s help. For example: “Aderaba, so-and-so really loves me!” Or “I’m Davka capable and Matzliach!” Being: מוֹרֵד rebelling against Tevah (nature) gives plenty of energy and Chi'yus (life).
